the most senior council member
"It has been a distinct honor and an embraced privilege to be able to serve and represent the many faces of the many races born and raised or arrvied from the various places that chose Brooklyn Park as their refuge and safe haven to live, work, worship, or raise a family"
the people's voice and choice
It has been a distinct honor and an embraced privilege serving and representing the Central District for the past four years. I am the longest standing council member currently on council. I am the most Senior councilmember. And we all know that experience truly matters combined with life learned lessons. All unique qualities the people need and deserve in leadership today. Especially locally where we all chose to live, lay our heads, and raise our families.
I am a devoted, dedicated and committed husband to my wife of 39 years and our family. Together we were blessed and gifted with three loving children and through their growth and maturation in life they have blessed and gifted us with five incredibile grand children.
I am a US Navy Honorman award recipient, honorably discharged, veteran of war and a disabled veteran that serve you, your family and this country nobly and with honor. And the path that I took has no expiration date. AS I continue to serving and representing you and your family and this city.
Over the past four years. We have unfortunately been faced with hidden agendas and personal motivates with this new leadership. Unfortunately, collective efforts that I refuse to be party of or too. You, the diverse people elected me to serve and represent you. And undeniably I have nobly performed my duties and answered your calls and emails delgently.
I have made my position known when it comes to controversial voiting-like the blue Line and 252 expansion, fire stations, taxes, and the improvements and upgrade to the CAC.
I am not against the Blue Line or 252 expansion. I am for right now East-West transportation for our residents. And I am also for increase safety measures right now on 252.
I am here to begin having those meanigful converstions of accountability that we are not having that we need to have. Regardless of how difficult, challenging, or uncomfortable it might make others think or feel. These are the unspoken conversations that we need to have in order to navigate us a united pathway forward together as one in harmony. Creating a unified blueprint for other municipalities to follow. That tells the stories about how we came together and worked together to begin writing and telling the new stories about Brooklyn Park.
August 17-18 weekend I brought. Northwest Tourism Board and I brought back to the Twin Cities the GusMacker.com 3 on 3 basketball Tournament. A torunament that I personally traveled with my family and successfully competed for over 10 years. It was here in Brooklyn Park at the North Hennepin Community College. And nearly 3000 people from across the US made our city the destination to be for that weekend. People traveled here occupied hotels, and dined in our city with their families to play basketball. Looking forward to bringing it back in 2025.
In the contenious talks about the CAC and the hockey rinks over basketball. I have taken the lead in these efforts. As I am currently in talks with Smitharenas.com to build a multiuser and multipurpose facility right here in Brooklyn Park. And they are excited to make Brooklyn Park home.
I am highly concerned about our public safety. As we all should, would, and could be. However, please understand that our current situation is not just unique to Brooklyn Park. The majority of all municipalities across the country are competing and searching for those good officers to serve and protect diverse communities equally, equitably, openly, honestly, and with integrity.
Now , my vision for our future is creating an economically viable and sustainable city. While transforming our city into a city of, for, with, by, and about the people. A city thats welcoming, inviting and includes our untapped and undeniable diversity. And begin building a bridge that unites us all. Where people can travel freely without prejudice, hate, or discrimination to open, equal opportutnities, access and resources. In the largest expanded demoraphically mixed community in the region in the past 20 plus years. Yet our city unfortunately hasn't kept pace with those changing dynmaics.
